What is Natural Red Oak Mulch?

This very popular mulch is the by-product of a lumber mill that produces red oak flooring. When fresh, the color is a light almost orange-brown color that will darken over several months.

An important quality of this shredded hardwood is its ability to "mat-down" producing a surface resistant to washing away. It also permits raking or blowing leaves off of the mulch without removing large quantities of the mulch in the process.

Red Oak is excellent for slopes up to 45 degrees and for walking trails.
